The Japan Folk Crafts Museum, Osaka is located in the Nippon Mingeikan, a former Expo ’70 pavilion. Fifty years ago, this pavilion displayed the beauty of everyday life, with as many as 200 folk craft masterpieces from the Japan Folk Crafts Museum of Tokyo and works by Mingei craftsmen, such as Shoji Hamada, Kanjiro Kawai and Keisuke Serizawa.
With the help of the Japan Folk Crafts Museum of Tokyo, The Japan Folk Crafts Museum, Osaka plans to reproduce the 1970 exhibition in celebration of the pavilion’s 50th anniversary.
This will be a rare opportunity to see Japanese folk crafts of such qualtity in such quantity.
