小鹿田焼　Onta ware

解説：小鹿田焼の開窯は諸説がありますが、１８世紀前半とされており、小石原焼中野窯の柳瀬三右衛門と日田郡大鶴町の黒木十兵衛、土地を提供した坂本家によって始められたと伝えられています。創業以来、窯元の数はほとんど変わらず、今でも１０軒で焼き続けられ、平成７(1995)年に重要無形文化財に指定されています。装飾技法として刷毛目、櫛目文、流し掛、飛鉋などがあり、昔ながらの伝統を守りながら同じ形、同じ釉がけを今も続け、健やかな美しさをそなえた器を生産しています。

Characteristics: The Onta ware kiln is said to have been established in the early 18th century by Mitsuemon Yanase, Jubei Kuroki and the Sakamoto family. Since the beginning 10 kilns have been producing wholesome, beautiful works using their traditional methods, Hakeme (slip-brushed design), Kushime (comb pattern), Nagashi-kake (slip decoration) and Tobi-kanna (chatter marks).
